about us

The Red Hand Society is a Richmond, VA based visual arts collective developed to foster a stronger local arts scene. The Richmond area has an immense amount of local talent and an impressive pool of resources for artists, but we find that there could be much more exposure to local art within the community. The goal is simple: more local art in front of more people. The process is two-fold:

1. In working with the community and individual businesses, we are developing new temporary and permanent spaces receptive to the idea of fostering a greater localized arts community. The collective serves as the liaison to a group of member businesses willing to hold openings, promote artists and rotate fresh member work through their spaces.

2. By way of juried selection and continual peer reviews, we aim to build a collaborative group of productive working artists that both facilitates individual growth and provides a unified artistic front capable of working for the artists and business establishments involved. The collective serves as an inspirational group of people dedicated to driving each member to continually up the ante and produce new and engaging work for public view.

If you are a local artist interested in group involvement or a local business interested in facilitating the display and promotion of art within the community, please visit our application section for more information.
